As a highly skilled first line manager in our Actinide Material Processing and Power (AMPP) Division you will help lead and execute numerous key missions to support our nation’s security and space endeavors as we produce the next generation of nuclear engineers and scientists.
Reporting to your Group Leader, you will be assigned to provide management and leadership to a team of engineers, scientists, and fissile material handlers (glovebox operators) to perform production activities associated with actinide separations chemistry, material science, and applied research and development. As the First Line Manager (FLM), you will have responsibility, authority and accountability to execute work that supports programmatic milestones and deliverables while setting the standards for professional behavior and operational effectiveness.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Management: Experience in project and program management, including planning, organizing, and resource management, as well as demonstrated experience in creating work scope, schedules, budgets, coordinating work activities, and tracking progress.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience with work package development and execution, identification of resource requirements and development of resource loaded schedules and financial stewardship, as well as leadership skills to effectively supervise, negotiate, conduct conflict resolution, mentor, and conduct personnel development.
Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, and publications; effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers, in addition to the ability to communicate technical issues.
Safety/Compliance: Demonstrated Experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with facility requirements, conduct of operations, conduct of engineering and conduct of maintenance standards, utilizing safe work practices.
Education/Experience : DOE Order 426.2 requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4 years nuclear experience.
Nuclear Experience: Experience with nuclear high hazard facility operating requirements, safety authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution
Diverse Team Experience: Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, scientists, and professional staff
Clearance: DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification highly desirable

Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the one year of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.Please refer to Laboratory Policy P701 for applicant eligibility requirements.
