Los Alamos National Laboratory Training and Mission Services Post-Master's Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Use your skills and subject matter expertise to support project management of onboarding, orientation, training and education programs for one of the most important research institutions in the world. As a part of the Operational Readiness Implementation, Training & Mission Services Group (ORI-1), you will be able to apply your skillsets to develop and implement new processes, programs and initiatives to benefit all Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) new hires. Reporting to the New Employee Training (NET) First Line Manager, you will work closely with the ALDWP Human Capital Strategy Program Manager and Onboarding Program Technical Project Manager to accomplish tasks. Day-to-day duties include supporting both small and large projects within new employee onboarding, orientation and initial training efforts, including but not limited to initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and close-out.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Project/Program Management

Entry-level experience in project or program management of operational work, including developing project plans, managing to scope, and schedule. Ability to provide clear and concise status reports during the course of project execution and/or ongoing program events.

Computer Skills/Business Systems

Knowledge of business and operations systems and standard software applications (i.e. Microsoft and Adobe products). Ability to quickly learn and adapt to use of LANL business systems (i.e. Oracle, UTrain, Issues Management, etc.). Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex and overlapping tasks using an electronic calendar.

Critical Thinking

Entry-level experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility operations and operational quality assurance.

Communication

Ability to conceptualize and communicate program requirements and detailed elements to both technical and non-technical personnel. Demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communications. Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with utmost professionalism.

Customer Service

Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations. Ability to interact professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Formal training or work experience in project management

  • Ability to learn quickly; proactive, positive nature

  • Ability to work full-time

Education : Requires a Master’s degree, conferred within the last three years, and experience with onboarding, orientation and initial training processes in an organization.
